Not every car needs a wrap. Dull paint, swirl marks from the car wash and iron fallout can be polished out.

Correction first
A coating locks in whatever state the paint is in. That is why the polishing comes first: swirl marks, dullness and fallout come out before anything is sealed.
What a coating does
Water and dirt bead off, the car stays clean longer and washing gets easier. Gloss goes up, UV exposure goes down.
What it does not do
It will not stop a stone chip. A ceramic layer is around two micrometres thick; paint protection film is a hundred times that. If impacts are your concern, you want film.
On a wrap
A coating can be applied over colour film and makes it much easier to look after. On matte film only with a sealant made for matte surfaces.
